Veronica Jobbins MBE, MA, FRSA
I originally trained as a specialist dance teacher and my first teaching post was at Sydenham Girls School. Since then, I have been involved in dance and arts education and curriculum development as a teacher across London, taking an active role in promoting arts education for children and young people. I renewed my connection with Lewisham when I joined Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Deptford in 1996, latterly as Head of Public Engagement, retiring in July 2020.
I have always enjoying being part of Lewisham’s vibrant and diverse community. At Trinity Laban I was able to work with local artists, schools and other arts organisations, facilitating access to arts and culture for all those living in the borough, whatever their age and background. I was instrumental in the formation of Lewisham Education Arts Network (LEAN) which I currently Chair, an arts and cultural education support organisation, championing arts learning for children and young people across Lewisham through promoting the growth of creative partnership working.
I am proud to be a governor at Deptford Green which places creativity and the arts at the heart of the curriculum and using my broad education knowledge, skills and experience to support the school to thrive and every student to reach their full potential.
