We’re pleased to announce that Deptford Green is introducing a new, more efficient and secure system for reporting your child’s absence due to illness, called Studybugs.
We are asking all parents/carers to please get the free Studybugs app, or register on the Studybugs website, and use it to tell us whenever your child’s ill and unable to attend school. This will save lots of time for our administration team who will no longer need to listen to voice messages from parents and it is a quicker way for you to communicate absence if and when you need to.

Top 3 reasons to use Studybugs
1. It’s better for safeguarding because it is integrated with our systems so we know right away if your child is unaccounted for.
2. It’s quick and easy to register and use and automatically reminds you to keep us posted.
3. You’ll be helping the NHS and other public health organisations improve children’s health. (https://studybugs.com/about/schools)
Outstanding Attendance = Outstanding Results
Students need to attend regularly and on time if they are to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them at Deptford Green School. Persistent Absences undermines the educational process and will lead to educational disadvantage.
Parent/Carers must call the school before 8.40am to report a student’s absence. Or use the Studybugs app to report.
We would ask for parents/carers not to arrange family holidays during term. Where unavoidable, requests should be made in writing to the Headteacher well in advance of travel date.
Any medical appointments, where possible, should be made before and after school.
