Creative Champions: Nurturing the Next Generation of Creatives

The Creative Champion role is designed for students who are passionate about the arts and eager to contribute to the creative life of our school. Creative Champions actively support and celebrate creativity- both in their own work and in the achievements of others—helping to build a vibrant and inclusive artistic community. As part of the role, students participate in special projects such as Deptford X (2025) and the Creative Curation Programme (2026), a unique opportunity co-constructed with Goldsmiths, University of London. As well as attend trips to exciting creative spaces such as the Saatchi Gallery or the Brit School.

Creative Champions are encouraged to be fully immersed in the arts within school. Each student is expected to:

    • Attend at least one creative club or enrichment activity on a regular basis
    • Take part in at least one creative production or exhibition
    • Make strong progress in their Visual and Performing Arts subjects
    • Support and inspire others in their creative journey

In recognition of their commitment, Creative Champions receive enhanced access to enriching cultural experiences. They are given priority for trips to theatres, galleries, and other creative venues, and are often offered special opportunities designed exclusively for them. These experiences allow students to broaden their horizons, deepen their artistic understanding, and meet inspiring practitioners working in the creative industries.

Students have the opportunity to become Creative Champions from Year 7 through to Year 10. During this period, they are expected to maintain a record documenting the development of their skills and attributes as Creative Champions, which enables them to attain Bronze, Silver, or Gold Champion status. Achievements are formally recognised and celebrated at the conclusion of each academic year. Our Creative Champions lead by example -celebrating creativity wherever they find it and helping to shape the artistic heartbeat of our school.
