GCSE Student Success 2025

At Deptford Green, we are proud to be a fully inclusive school. Whilst academic outcomes are important, they are not our only measure of success.

We strive to ensure that all students, regardless of their starting points or the hurdles they may face, are supported to do well and to flourish. Our focus is on developing the whole child, not just their exam results, and we are committed to ensuring that every student leaves us confident, resilient, and well-prepared for the next stage of their lives.

We are proud of the cohort who have just left us for demonstrating our GREAT values each and every day and for their excellent grades which are a deserved reward for their hard work.

On 21st August, we celebrated the excellent results of our students and are absolutely delighted that we have achieved the strongest set of results in our history.  We saw an increase in results across all subjects, with many students again achieving the top grades.  There was a significant increase in standard and strong passes too, resulting in our headlines this year:

  • 55.5% achieved 5 grades 9-4 including English and Maths at 4+
  • 42% achieved 5 grades 9-4 including English and Maths at 5+

Students in a wide range of subjects got excellent results.  Particularly strong results were achieved in:

  • English Language (69% 4+ and 45% 5+)
  • English Literature (78% 4+ and 45% 5+)

  • Spanish (89% 4+, 69% 5+ and 33% 7+)

We also celebrate individual students who achieved incredible results with a plethora of grade 9s and 8s opening many doors to this academic future beyond our wonderful school. We wish all our students the very best in their next adventure.

A huge congratulations goes to Sid who was our highest achieving student this year.

Sid achieved an amazing six grade 9s, one 8 and one 7 in his GCSEs and a D*2 in his Sports Studies course (the highest possible grade).

This is testament to his outstanding commitment throughout his time at DG - well, done Sid!

Isobel achieved a fantastic six grade 9s and two grade 8s in her GCSEs. Isobel's achievements are a credit to her hard work and dedication throughout her time at DG, during which she also played a significant role in the wider life of the school, including her enthusiastic participation in the school's drama productions such as 'School of Rock'.

Chelsea secured a fantastic and richly deserved six grade 9s and two grade 8s in her exams. Chelsea's success was built upon her persistent approach to studying outside of lessons, with countless hours spent working with her friends and teachers in after school sessions. Chelsea achieved this alongside many wider contributions across the school such as her key role in the student council and other extra-curricular clubs such as dance.
