What attracted you to teaching / your job role?   

After graduating from university with a degree in French, Spanish and Portuguese I worked in a company for a year but found it unfulfilling.

I visited a school to observe and was immediately hooked by the challenge and variety of teaching.

What inspired you to work at Deptford Green? What makes this school unique? 

Deptford Green is unique thanks to our unique students and the excellent relationships we develop between students and staff.

I was immediately inspired by the buzz of our community school and the opportunity to be making a real impact and change in the lives and futures of our students.

What do you enjoy most about working at Deptford Green?

I love working with the young people at our school, I learn as much from them as they learn from me! They always challenge me to see things in different ways and working with them has made me the person I am today.

Seeing our students develop and grow and knowing you have had a part in that is also incredibly rewarding.

What is unique about your role at the school? 

As the Head of Languages, I work to improve student’s cultural understanding and communication which is so important in today’s world.

As a language lover myself, I love sharing my passion with the students and seeing them develop the same interest in languages.

What are your future ambitions? What do you hope to achieve during your time at DG? 

I hope to continue to develop the Languages department to be the best it can be. I hope to offer further enrichment and trips to increase the cultural awareness and engagement of our students and for them to see the real-world application of languages.

I am also very passionate about the well-being and futures of our students and would like to take on a new challenge in the future working in a pastoral/mentoring role.

Pupils enjoy coming to our school because it is a safe space for them to learn, grow and have fun! Pupils feel supported and encouraged by their teachers and we do everything we can do to prepare them for their futures.
