End of Year News: Library Highlights - posted 19th Jul

We have been especially busy in the library this year. Library lessons for all year 7, 8 classes and selected year 9s have been packed with reading challenges, Stars of the Week and lots of books successfully read and quizzed on. On occasions we have read a book together as a class and explored wider themes and issues not immediately obvious. Students have been teased out of their favourite and ‘default’ genres and have explored a wider range of more challenging titles - our Top Twenty Gold, Silver & Bronze suggested titles and our Recommended Reading List are available for you on our website. Year 7 Parents have been given the opportunity to sign into Accelerated Reader so they can access their child’s reading data and get up-to-the-minute reading quiz scores - Accelerated Reader is the programme we use in library lessons and is a sophisticated Reading platform which analyses reading ages and gives an accurate range of books for pupils to choose from designed to stretch their reading practises, based on termly reading assessments.
