Deptford Green is a vibrant, diverse school community that is fully focused on delivering the very best outcomes for its students. I joined the school in January 2016 and was immediately impressed by the team of staff, students and parents who are determined to make the school outstanding across all areas. There is a real passion for learning and a strong shared commitment to the local community.
The award winning new building gives our students and staff access to state of the art facilities. We aim to deliver a standard of education that is outstanding in every respect. Our students progress at a significantly higher rate than the national average.
Whilst they are at Deptford Green, students will experience a curriculum that is engaging, enjoyable and inspires a deep enthusiasm for learning. The wide ranging extra-curricular programme of clubs encourages students to try new activities and “get involved”. We nurture high achieving young people, who make a positive contribution to the school and the wider community. We understand the importance of making the transition from primary to secondary as successful as possible and those that need extra support
Through the whole school student leadership programme we encourage our students to develop the skills and personal qualities required to play a leading role in society. Students are expected to maintain high standards in all areas of behaviour and performance; they are positively rewarded for meeting the Deptford Green expectations. The student council is central in identifying and promoting the values that unite the Deptford Green community; these values are celebrated through assemblies.
"The school council is well organised and very active and influential. They are competent and highly articulate young leaders," Ofsted May 2016.
The PSHE programme further promotes the values that will enable our students to thrive in 21st Century Britain.
At Deptford Green there is a clear understanding that the input of students and their parents is of vital importance in achieving outstanding outcomes. The half termly parent forums give parents the opportunity to help shape the strategic direction of the school. The forums and coffee mornings help to embed the home-school partnership that is so essential to our students’ success.
Education should provide the means for young people to fulfil their dreams and ambitions. This depends on all our stakeholders working collaboratively in pursuit of the best outcomes for the school. We will continue to strive together to develop students who enjoy school, achieve to their full potential and make a positive contribution to their community.
