Pathways Information Booklet for Year 9 Options.
Please click on each subject for curriculum details for Key Stage 3 and 4. Subjects studied in KS4 result in external assessments, exams and qualifications. The qualifications offered include Certificates, GCSEs and BTECs. Please see 6th Form pages for details on KS5.
Linked on the right is the current pathways choices for GCSE for Year 9. Year 9 choose their options in the Spring Term. There is also the overall Curriculum Plan for 2014 available on the right, which the Year 9 are choosing their subjects from.
Students have been placed in one of seven pathways dependent on their current performance, predictions of their potential and previous tests and assessments.
Our aim is that no pupil should leave this school without having had a real sense of achievement in their own ability. The subject area has an outstanding record of achievement with 90-100% of students gaining A-C grades at GCSE in the last 3 years. Ofsted deemed the teaching of Art, Craft and Design to be Outstanding in March 2011.
Citizenship is about building student's sense of agency to influence and impact on the world.
We encourage our students to locate, organise, understand, evaluate, and analyse information using digital technology in an attempt to turn them into digital citizens.
Design & Technology
DT nurtures the creative development of students through problem solving and technological activities. Details on Food Technology too.
We aim to inspire in our students enjoyment and insight from the dramatic literature, theatre and live performances.
In English, we want all students to feel confident in communicating and have access to the treasures that can be unearthed in literature.
Food Technology at Deptford Green
Food Technology at Deptford Green has become a popular subject in recent years due to the increased practical nature of the subject. Deptford Green now offers Food Technology across each year group
The study of Geography stimulates an interest in and a sense of wonder about places. It helps young people make sense of a complex and dynamically changing world.
History at Deptford Green is about asking questions about the past and the ways in which the past has been interpreted.
Maths GCSEs develop students ability to think mathematically and to apply Maths in work, further study and their personal lives. it is one of the essential qualifications that future employers look for.
From making magazines to analysing films, deconstructing adverts and learning why sit-coms are funny.
Modern Foreign Languages
MFL enables students to develop an awareness of the nature of the language and the importance of language learning for work, recreation and further study
Music at key stage 3 aims to introduce students to playing, performing, composing and arranging. Instrumental lessons are offered to all pupils free of charge. At GCSE level, students follow the AQA syllabus and are assessed on performance, composition, listening and appraising.

Students consider the importance of understanding the beliefs and practices of faith traditions as well as considering non-religious approaches to key philosophical, ethical issues
We give students an opportunity to explore scientific concepts through experimentation and demonstrations. The aim is to make science relevant to their everyday lives and fun!
We achieved an outstanding Ofted Subject Inspection in March 2011 and have an over 90% A-C rate at GCSE. We aim to create a lively and informative learning environment that is able to cater equally for the needs of all students.
